A native North Carolinian who spent the majority of her career in leading technology roles, Rasheedah Hasan began to shift her career path in 2001 as she allowed her passion for fashion to surge. After studying fashion and merchandising at the Art Institute and becoming a certified yoga instructor (2007), she found the artistic fusion she was seeking. After two years of researching, sketching and sample development, she settled on the first products to be launched under her first brand, i by Raha.
Known for her independent, perceptive and artistic nature her designs resonate classic–chic appeal, that vibrates undertones of complex patterns and textures symbolizing the beautiful nature of life.
Having earned a B.A. in Psychology from Davidson College, she understands the importance of messaging that is associated with fashion. The i by Raha brand reflects her vision to mesh her artistic style, with timeless fashion and inherent meaning that resonate beyond the designer label.
This vision drives Rasheedah Hasan to create luxurious, modern, unique styles that attract high-end businesses (retailers, resorts/spas, fitness studios) with discerning consumers who appreciate the importance of a well-balanced life.
Rasheedah Hasan collaborates with US-based partners who provide their expertise to bring each meticulously planned piece into reality.
Rasheedah Hasan actively consults and executes "mindful health" programs for a non-for-profit organization, SimputerUSA.org, dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and teens through health and wellness education. She has also received recognition for her continued works in creating outlets and programs for breast cancer survivors with Piedmont Medical Center's (Women's Diagnostic Program). She is actively working to implement health, wellness and prevention programs in diverse neighborhoods that are traditionally underserved; believing that health, wellness and prevention education is a core component to a successful life and positive community development.
As an artist, businesswoman and community activist Rasheedah Hasan does not take for granted her responsibility to give back. She is dedicated to help educate people about important preventive health and education matters. i by Raha is a fun vehicle to do so, because she is able to fuse her passion for art and fashion to fund grassroots efforts. A portion of all sales will be used to support the expansion of yoga-inspired programs to support cancer survivors and school-age children.
